Educating Brains vs Elevating Souls?

Thank you to those raising awareness of the risks today’s youth are navigating. This morning, I came across an article titled “Fire at John Kennedy Middle School – Two former students confess.” Just days earlier, another post pointed to the growing unease around violent and disruptive behaviors among minors with one titled “OmeTV – the Invisible Risks for Minors” highlighting the subtle yet serious dangers lurking behind seemingly harmless digital platforms.
These events are not isolated. They speak to something deeper — a generation more connected, more qualified, yet often more disconnected morally and emotionally than ever before.
📚 Yes, the system teaches reading, writing, critical thinking, career readiness.
But education is not complete unless it teaches humility, empathy, gratitude, and accountability. A sustainable society is not built on degrees alone, but on values, character, and a sense of shared purpose.
And this reflection would be incomplete if we did not address the digital storm our youth are growing up in.
🕹️ Internet and screen culture — a double-edged sword:
- The internet opens doors to knowledge, creativity, and global dialogue — when harnessed with intention.
- But we must also face what is quietly eroding the inner life of many young people:
- Addiction to games and instant gratification
- Easy access to pornography that distorts perception of relationships
- A steep decline in face-to-face connection
- Anonymous platforms that sell “friendship,” yet harbor manipulation and abuse
Without proper guidance, the digital world risks becoming a parallel universe where truth blurs, identity fractures, and values dissolve.
📣 It is time to reintroduce moral anchors.
To uplift the voices of the wise, not just the loud.
To invest in a form of education that forms human beings, not just skilled professionals.
Let us raise a generation of peacebuilders, not just performers.
Of leaders grounded in respect, not driven by empty validation.
Because when education elevates both minds and hearts, we build something that endures: a society that honors dignity, fosters courage, and holds itself together — even in this challenging time we are living.
To address many of today’s societal ills, I am championing the restoration of the family as the cornerstone of a healthy and just society.
