What to do?
- Prioritise what truly matters. Separate critical compliance from “nice to have” documentation. Focus first on legal essentials.
- Create a simple compliance map One page listing: tax deadlines, licences, payroll obligations, reporting dates. Visibility reduces stress.
- Batch administrative work Do not react daily. Allocate fixed time weekly or monthly.
- Use shared services Accountants, payroll providers, digital bookkeeping platforms can reduce personal load.
- Advocate collectively Join business associations. Collective voices can push for proportional regulation.
Small firms should not operate like mini-corporations. Discipline is required. But simplicity is power.
